How do I talk with my little ones about LGBT topics?
Published 15 June 2017
Parents sometimes need to talk with young kids about gender & sexual minorities:
a new classmate has gay parents;
a cousin comes out;
a playmate transitions;
a neighborhood kid is gender nonconforming.
Even if your child doesn’t have a situation that sparks a conversation, you might decide to teach your child about gender and sexual diversity, just because it’s good to understand others and foster acceptance. Lindsey Amer creates and posts videos on the YouTube channel, Queer Kid Stuff. Lindsey recommends the videos for kids ages 3-7 years old. Check them out to see if one might be right for sharing with your child. Four videos are embedded below—find more at YouTube.com/QueerKidStuff
